considered a master piece of the time
review of film:
I can see why this film is revered as a master piece of it time the portrayal of the story is well executed the acting is convincing and the overall story is engaging.
The film focuses around the bike which in my opinion the bike represented employment and a means to provide for his family being the key component for the male protagonist to do his job and with the theft of his bike he looses the ability to do his job, this leads to him not being able to provide for his family.
The use of non-professional actors is evident in the minor roles but the main protagonist and his son show a true level of talent. Both were able to be expressive and engaging through out the film.
The Father characters arc shows us the progression of the male protagonist from a moral, upstanding member of society to a desperate, angry man trying to fend for his family. As the film progresses we see the father figure change for the kind-hearted man towards his son to a man easily anger by his sons action and eventually becomes a bad influence on his son. the Sons opinion of his father starts his father off as his hero and as the father becomes more desperate to find his bike, the sons view of his father is shattered and he becomes more humanized showing his flaws to his son.
In my opinion this is definitely a film that hold up to this day and is a worth while watch. My biggest complaint would be the sound is very jittery and bounces from highs to lows almost instantly.
