BSA106 Week 10

Animation from 1980-1985:

During this period animation started to really venture into the use of CG Animation and the mixing of 2D and 3D animation. Rotoscoping started to become popular during this period. Canada's Gerald Potterton Created Heavy Metal an adaption of a cult classic comic book. The Animation Used a lot of Rotoscoping for there human characters. a Few years later in 1983 Canada would release there second rock animation by Nelvana Studio . Rock and Rule was the movie tile and had a similar style to Heavy metal but mas mainly 2D animation.

Rock and Rule Review:

In the UK During this Period a spectacularly well made  Stopmotin in my opinion was create with the Wind in the Willow a Stop motion movie that  due to the sucess of the film become a Stopmotion series and a second film. In 1982 Dianne jackson created a 2D animation "the Snowman " this film was Nominated for a Academy Award and become a Christmas movie classic.

UK and Canada 1982-1985: During this period  a few animated short films and music videos that all revolved around the idea of creating a visual appeal / imagery based off a song. examples of this were:
Gerald Scarfe - Pink Floyds film  The Wall (1982)
Steve Baron directed Money for Nothing for the band Dire Straits song by the same name.
Steve baron also directed A-ha's Take on me. Video was animated by Michael Patterson, who makes the singer of the band come alive from a comic book using rotoscoping technique..

Review of these music videos:
